Last Friday night my computer ceased working properly in the middle of a game of Solitaire. I had a cursor, but it refused to perform any functions. Annoying. So I performed a “forced shutdown” and went to bed.
Saturday morning, I turned on my computer only to find it was still afflicted. More than annoying! When these things happen on a weekend, the fix-it shop isn’t open and one must wait until Monday. Grrrrrrr!
Monday morning I picked up the phone to call Millennium Computers, but on a whim, decide to check my computer one more time. You guessed it. Every thing was back to normal. That little nanosecond of intuition saved me a trip and some money.
I have no idea what was the problem…maybe MacScene (my computer) was sick of Solitaire. ☺
It turned out to be an interesting weekend. My only method of communication with the outside world was the telephone. Anyone who knows me well knows I hate using the phone. Emails and Facebook is where I live…or my blog.
It was frustrating and I had to ask myself this question: am I addicted to my computer or dependent? The answer is: DEPENDENT. But, I’m dependent on my car, also.
I need my car to always be ready to take me places be it necessity or pleasure. My computer does that, also. My computer takes me to the bank; to restaurants to look at their menus; to the world wide library where I can research and learn so many new things. My computer can take me more places, actually, than my car can.
Now I see the need for back-up. I need a mobile device that is not dependent on my computer. Maybe by the fall I’ll be able to consider a Nook. I’ll let you know.

Bike Riding on February 1st
If I lived in Florida, that would be no big deal, but since I live in Connecticut it is practically unheard of!
The official temperature is 61°.
My ride was just over 8 miles…which isn’t much…but it’s been a while since I’ve ridden my bike so it was just enough. Plus, the sustained winds out of the west are about 15 mph with gusts to 20. I didn’t care. I was going to ride today in spite of the wind.
I went to the bank in the grocery store and then picked up 2 loaves of bread (BOGOF). Just the right amount to load into my panniers…one on each side keeps me balanced. At least my bike is balanced…not saying about me personally. ☺
This winter? I’m lovin’ it!
