0CTOBER 1 – 31
Once again a month begins with confusion as to what season I should dress for. Already there was a day where I started out in a turtleneck, changed into a shell, then back to the turtle. In a couple of days from now, a possible frost is predicted. What will I dress for that day?
KITCHEN CEILING
The kitchen ceiling is still not fixed. Hopefully, on the 5th, there will be someone here to start the process…which begins on the roof! (Did not happen)
Yesterday, the 15th, the external part of the problem was attended to. Today it’s raining. So far, no dripping inside. Maybe now the kitchen ceiling can be fixed and the cabinet replaced!. Maybe I can get back to my normal meal prep routine?
Today’s the 29th and the roof has been repaired, but they have not done a water test yet. So the ceiling still isn’t fixed!
CABLE/INTERNET
Cox sold to Spectrum. Spectrum has a lot more to offer like streaming channels. Yesterday (10/8) I went to Spectrum with questions about my email address and a new cable box (currently Contour). Long story short: Spectrum coming today to replace Cox equipment and set up the new stuff.
I get all the channels I did before. I get a whole bunch of streaming channels including Peacock that has gobbled up the best sports games. My email stays the same. AND I switch over to their mobile phone service, get a new iPhone, keep my same number. All that and my bill will be lowered some $60.
I had to do the phone because Consumer Cellular had blocked my Sim Card (whatever that means) and would not allow a second number to be installed on my phone. They said it was not a CC phone and I would have to go back to where I bought it to have it unlocked. I bought it at CC’s location inside the Enfield Target store and they are no longer there. So, goodbye Consumer Cellular. Yes I had to buy the phone from Spectrum and make payments for the next three years. I felt it was worth it.
When they transferred everything over to my new phone, I also added a package that gave me the Science Channel and three of the sports channels the original deal did not include (they always find a way to get you!). It added $17 and change to my bill but I get a whole bunch more channels that I will watch from time to time.
ELIZABETH
Back awhile, I mentioned my friend who was planning to move to Florida to her daughter’s. Well, the best laid plans of mice and men…Liz broke her leg and went into rehab where she fell again and broke her arm in two places. Finally moved to an assisted living facility where she fell again and broke her pelvis! What happens next is unknown. She’s back in rehab.
10/19: I finally located Elizabeth by phone. She didn’t answer her cell phone (it was left back at AVIVA), so I called Avery. Got a phone number for the nurse’s station and Elizabeth’s room. She was sitting in front of the nurse’s station and they handed her the phone. During our conversation she said she did not fall; did not break her pelvis; was walking as usual. Well, I know none of that is true. She is not in touch with reality at all times. So sad.
LUNCH W/CLASSMATES
This month we went to the Skyline Restaurant in Windsor Locks. Good meal and the conversations were lively. We are down to five in this group. As far as I know, we have a total of 18 classmates (including ourselves) left.
The Third Wednesday Of The Month Group met at The Pickle Jar Deli.
IT’S BEEN 10 MONTHS
I can’t believe I have been faithful to the monthly reporting for 10 months. I have gone back and read what I have shared with nobody that I know of. It seems like I’m sharing my life in a vacuum. Actually, what happens in my life isn’t interesting to begin with! At my age…90 years…just how interesting could it possibly be to begin with? All this leads up to the decision I have made to make this report my last one. I need to write. So I will have to find another outlet. It won’t be Facebook. Maybe I’ll write a book titled “Young and Foolish and Still Making Mistakes at Age 90!” That might be interesting! So, if there is anyone out there reading this every month, so long and I’ll see you down the road!
