The Office is Finished!

Photos:
Top: Measured twice, cut once. Perfect fit.
Others: Different views of the office with the furniture. Check out all the orbs!

I worked all afternoon to achieve the finished office area. Andy and Paul came over, but they couldn't take all the cardboard I had for recycling...no room in the back of the truck. However, they loaded it in my car and I'll drop it off to Andy tomorrow.

I moved all the furniture myself with those "movers" thingies. You know, they go under the piece of furniture and make sliding easy.

Tomorrow I'll concentrate on filling my desk drawers and deciding on a lot of other stuff that I need to keep or toss...mostly toss, probably.

I'm ready to go buy my new flat screen TV for down here.

All in all, I'm very pleased with the Cave...it's coming along.

Light at the End of the Tunnel

Photos: three of the top four show the bookcases loaded with books—finally—and my stuffed animals. Then, there is that lone box of books that needed to be cataloged. The last photo shows the finished floor covering.

I get so excited just looking at the progress. Orlando Rosario from The Carpet Gallery graciously agreed to put down the final row of carpet tiles and the transition piece to marry the tiles to the vinyl. It took more talent than I have that’s for sure. And he did a beautiful job.

The family Christmas was postponed from the day after Christmas to January 16th. So, while I had all that muscle in the house I asked if we could possibly get the bookcases down the stairs. The easiest way, I thought, would be to take them out the front door, around the side of the building and in the back door into the Cave. Matt was certain they would go down the stairs and go down they did! Kathy and Lou had already helped me get all the boxes of books down there.

I put the shelves in and shelved the books. There were a lot of books that I had never cataloged, so that had to be done. Now I’m playing with spacing of the books according to category. This time, I’m including the location of each book in the listing. It’s one thing to know you have a book…it’s another thing to find the darn thing when you want it!

All my stuffies are so happy to be out of that box. I did have to put them in a trance in order to transport them here. They have been in that box since MAY! They were just waking up when I opened the box and started placing them on and in the bookcases. There is still rearranging to do.

I have a lot of vinyl left over, but I have plans for all of it. A piece will be put down in my office area and the rest will go on the floor in the laundry/storage/furnace space on the other side of the wall.

I have broken down 17 boxes and covers. All that cardboard will be recycled. Things are looking a lot cleaner.

Almost there. And, worth all the hard work!
